an ode for mothers of boys

Sitting at the kitchen table,
listening to the scamper of little feet.
A little body climbs into my lap,
arms wrap around my neck.
Just as I close my eyes to soak in the sweetness,
WOHHHHMMMMPP!
A giant toot has been intentionally unleashed.
Tiny laughter explodes.
Little feet scamper away.

  1. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of tricks on mommy. Last summer, my 21 yr old brother lit a firework/crackle pop thing right behind my mom & scared her to the point of her passing out... He made it all better by bringing her a cookie and giving her a sweet hug. :)

  7. HA!! That is cute, funny and gross all at the same time! Boys will be boys. If he's your oldest, I'll tell you it doesn't get any better. If he's not, then you already know. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog Treasures! Now I'm off to read your post about taking great photos. I could REALLY use it!
