a love note

I found this love note in my fridge.
The last bite of jello shaped as a heart.
Perhaps not the most traditional form for a love note,
but for that very reason, I think I love it even more.

goodmorning from portland

To give you a little background, we saw this man driving around downtown Portland.  No parade.  Just normal, everyday traffic, waiting at a stoplight behind a white Honda Civic.

There are probably a few questions running through your mind right now.  Like, what the heck is coming out of that left tail light?  Where is one able to find such large quantities of bronze paint?  So.... you like monkeys?  Do you feel that by wearing a clown nose while driving you might be obstructing your visual field and therefore impairing your ability to recognize and quickly respond to unexpected and potentially dangerous situations?

Or simply, um... why??

tulip fest

A few weeks ago we took a little drive down to Woodburn with some friends for the tulip festival.

Clearly Sam holds little regard for the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for proper stroller use. Also, I'm a good mom.

 There were tractors to drive,

games to play & faces to paint,

and of course, tulips galore.

the necessities

We were getting ready to head out to the park, so Sam took it upon himself to pack his stroller:

trains: check.
beverages: quadruple check {there is even some beer packed underneath all that pop--neither of which he is allowed to drink}
super nutritious delicious snacks: check.

As the boy scouts like to say, "be prepared".

and then I made Jon watch it. and then my mom. and now you.

I love my {future} profession and the beautiful people who touch our lives.
Happy nurses week!

an ode for mothers of boys

Sitting at the kitchen table,
listening to the scamper of little feet.
A little body climbs into my lap,
arms wrap around my neck.
Just as I close my eyes to soak in the sweetness,
WOHHHHMMMMPP!
A giant toot has been intentionally unleashed.
Tiny laughter explodes.
Little feet scamper away.
