a family getaway

 A few weeks back, our little family took an overnight trip to the coast, Seaside to be exact.  Such a relaxing way to welcome in the new year.  We'd been to Seaside just 6 months prior, splashing through the waves in our shorts and t-shirts.  Subtract about 50 degrees, give or take a few, and that's where you found us this time, bundled in coats, hats and mittens.  Needless to say our plans for getting out there in the surf to try out some clamming were delayed and our brand new clamming shovel still lies unused in the back of Jon's car.  {just a good excuse to load up the car in another few months and give it a go again.  am i right?}

Despite the cold, Sam's piratey spirit remained intact.

 We enjoyed a beautiful sunset on beach and then, before you could say "fish & chips", had scurried our way into a local Irish pub for some dinner.

 That night we all snuggled into our hotel bed and ate a ridiculously large amount of candy and popcorn while watching a family movie.  hashtag party animals.

The next day we explored downtown Seaside and even found an arcade to practice our freestyle motorcycle riding.

All in all, a wonderfully relaxing getaway and a lovely way to start the new year.

  6. Looks like a beautiful place. It's so nice to have a getaway spot so close to home. You can't always get away for a week but sometimes just a night or two is good enough to tide you over.
